Where is
Covenant Point?
We are located in Michigan's
Upper Peninsula just three
miles north of the Wisconsin border.
The site is 140 miles
northwest of Green Bay, 340 miles north of Chicago, and 290 miles
northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
What is
Covenant Point?
Established in 1926 and expanded in the 1960's, we now have over 80
acres of forests and fields with an
expansive
waterfront and a remote island at the north end
of Hagerman Lake, a 585 acre recreational lake. Ottawa National
Forest is adjacent to the camp and offers extensive
hiking and cross country ski trails.
The Island
The Island
is an eight-acre piece of land in Hagerman Lake
about one mile from the camp. The Island boasts a "light side"
(open area) and a "dark side" (thick Hemlock forest), and is used in
the summer for weekly adventure programs for campers in grades 6-9.
The Mainland
The
mainland is the primary 13-acre site of Covenant Point.
All mainland sleeping lodges, the Chapel, the Tabernacle, Arts
& Crafts, infirmary building and Dining Hall are located
here. Situated on a peninsula, the Mainland boasts over 1200
feet of lake frontage.
The Back Forty
The back forty is the 60-acre area of land
across the road
from the main area of camp. The
far northwest corner meets with
the Ottawa National Forest. Most of camp's nature and
recreation
programs take place in the Back Forty. Agents of the Earth Nature
Center provides
a comfortable indoor space for school groups and
summer camp programming. The High Ropes Adventure Course and
seven low initiative elements are located here as well.
