Retreat Speaker: Barb Swanson

Originally from the south side Chicago, Barb’s life journey has included stops in Belgium, DR Congo, Central African Republic, Belgium (again!) and Sweden. Once a nurse, always a nurse has been a claim in Barb’s life thru the years. Leaving nursing and Africa behind to marry the love of her life, Steve, they continue to find joy in the journey as they accompany anyone who is interested in getting one step closer to knowing the truth about Jesus.  Barb has relocated to Appleton, WI this summer, and will spend the next year traveling around to Covenant churches to share how God is at work in Sweden, particularly from their context of working in a Swedish speaking church while providing a place of welcome to refugees and immigrants from the four corners of God’s wonderful world. She likes to play games and has loved CPBC since being first a camper, then counselor, camp nurse, and camp missionary.

Retreat Theme: Now…..Faith!

Think of the things that you can’t see but have faith in that they exist:

Electricity.  You have faith that when you flip the switch, the lights will go on.

Water. You open the faucet in the kitchen sink, and it comes flowing out.

Gravity.  You’re unlikely to step off a roof, convinced that the law of gravity will impact you whether you see gravity or not.

What are you hoping for today that you don’t yet see?  God’s provision for your family?  For God to intervene in a troubling situation?  Come along for a journey into Hebrews 11 and learn what the heroes of biblical history can teach us about faith.
