Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Family Camp

We are prayerful and hopeful as we prepare to open Summer 2021 Registration at 7AM (CST) on Tuesday, January 5. Thank you for continuing to navigate all of this with us!

Please see changes for ASD Family Camp 2021 below.

July 30 – August 3, 2021

ASD Family Camp is a four-day, Christian family-camp experience at Covenant Point, designed to build community and support among families who have children with autism. The program values flexibility around the needs of individuals, intergenerational experiences, meaningful connection among all participants, and spiritual formation. Covenant Point provides delicious meals enjoyed together, all-family games, age-appropriate activities and worship, engaging Bible- studies, and exposure to the beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Your family will rest and play together in a safe and encouraging environment, while growing close to each other and God.

What ASD Family Camp is:

  • A week of family camp intentionally planned with the person with ASD and family in mind.
  • A safe environment for a family and all its individuals to be who they are.
  • Community – an opportunity to connect with others on a similar journey.
  • Price includes four nights family lodging and healthy, home-cooked meals from Tuesday dinner until Saturday breakfast.

What ASD Family Camp isn’t:

  • Therapy – although being at camp may very well be therapeutic!
  • Support Group – although support and companions on this journey may be found.
  • Seminar/Conference

$150 per family.
This program is heavily subsidized by our annual Triathlon Fundraiser. (We’re still working on whether or not the Triathlon will happen in 2021 or not. Stay tuned!)

Key Changes for Summer 2021 ASD Family Camp:

High-touch areas of our site and facilities will be sanitized at an increased rate. New hand-washing and sanitizer stations will be added to key areas.

Cabins will be used in a way that creates a private living and sleeping space, bathroom, and entry/exit for each individual family. Shared cabin lounges will be closed.

Our outdoor environment will be heavily utilized for as much programming as possible - even more than normal this summer. We plan to add large outdoor tent facilities for worship, activities, and mealtimes. We anticipate most camp activities being available, but in adapted forms, and primarily in individual family groups. Families should anticipate significantly reduced hosting and childcare staff support compared with previous summers.

We have simplified, shortened, and reduced capacity for our summer schedule. All family camps run consecutively during the second half of the summer to both maximize safety and the number of families we can serve. (Please note that not all weeks begin and end on the same day of the week, and that a new end-time will be 1pm, after lunch). Extra time between programs will allow us to thoroughly clean and give staff needed time to rest and monitor health.

Except in the case of severe weather, meal times will primarily take place outdoors. Each family will have its own table for meals. New handwashing stations will be available.

A suspected or confirmed case at camp will result in clear and timely communication to family camp participants, quarantine, and requirement that the family depart for additional medical care as soon as possible.

If, because of a COVID-19 exposure, illness, or related concern, you need to cancel, you will receive a full refund minus a $25 processing fee. Alternatively, you may transfer your deposit and fees to a future Covenant Point program. In the event of a full camp cancellation by Covenant Point due to COVID-19, all registration fees, including full deposit, will be returned.

FAQs and answers will be addressed by March 1, 2021.
